Method
 

Preparation
  1. Using a medium saucepan, add bourbon, garlic, onions, and jalapeños; simmer over medium heat for 8-10 minutes, or until onions have softened.
Combining Ingredients
  1. Add ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, salt, and pepper; stir until well combined.
Cooking
  1. Increase heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat to medium-low and let simmer for 20-25 minutes.
Finishing Touches
  1. Pour mixture through a fine mesh strainer to remove onions, garlic, and jalapeños.
  2. Let sauce cool and then refrigerate in an airtight container for 1-2 days.

Notes

For best flavor, allow the sauce to rest in the fridge for at least 24 hours before using. Adjust heat by removing jalapeño seeds for a milder version.
