Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Line a 9x5 loaf pan with parchment paper and spray with nonstick spray.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Stir in freshly shredded cheddar cheese until well coated.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and melted butter until smooth.
  6. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, dried parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.
  3. Remove the bread from the oven, brush with the herb topping, and let it cool for 5 minutes before removing from the pan.
  4. Allow it to cool further, slice, and serve.

Notes

For best results, use freshly shredded cheese and do not overmix the batter. Experiment with different cheeses and herbs for variations.
