  • 6 pieces Pears Peel, core, and slice into ⅓-inch thick pieces.

Crumble Topping

  • 1/2 cup Pecans or walnuts Chopped for crunch and nuttiness.
  • 1/2 cup Almond meal Enhances flavor and adds moisture.
  • 1/4 cup Light-tasting olive oil or unrefined coconut oil Binds the topping and provides richness.
  • 1/4 cup Pure maple syrup or raw honey Natural sweetener for the topping.
  • 1/4 teaspoon Sea salt Balances sweetness.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Rinse and peel the pears. Remove the stems and slice into pieces about ⅓-inch thick.
  3. Place pears in an ungreased pie dish and toss them with cinnamon.
  4. Chop the pecans or walnuts to enhance the texture.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped nuts and all remaining topping ingredients using a fork.
Baking
  1. Sprinkle the topping mixture evenly over the pears.
  2. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the fruit is bubbling and the topping is crisp and golden.
  3. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or dollop of whipped cream. Leftovers can be enjoyed for breakfast.
