  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil Used for sautéing the aromatics and adds flavor.
  • 1 medium Sweet onion Finely chopped to create a flavorful base.
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves Minced for added aromatic depth.
  • 28 ounces Italian crushed tomatoes The main component of the sauce, providing richness.
  • 1 tablespoon Dried Italian seasoning Enhances the sauce's flavor profile with herbs.
  • 1 tablespoon Raw honey Adds natural sweetness to balance acidity.
  • 0.5 teaspoon Sea salt Enhances overall flavor and balances the ingredients.
  • 0.5 teaspoon Freshly ground pepper Adds a touch of heat and spice.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat your oil in a large stock pot over medium heat.
  2. Sauté the onion, stirring often until softened, about 4-5 minutes. Add in garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  3. Stir in the tomatoes, Italian seasoning, sea salt, and ground pepper.
  4. Bring to a boil then quickly reduce the heat to low, cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. Turn off the heat, then add the honey and stir to combine.
  6. Use immediately, or allow your sauce to completely cool.
  7. Transfer to a clean jar and keep refrigerated for up to 10 days.

Notes

For the best results, use fresh garlic, high-quality tomatoes, and allow the onions to fully soften. Adjust the sweetness to taste.
