Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 head Napa cabbage The star ingredient, offering a tender texture and mild taste.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Adds depth of flavor and aromatic qualities.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil A heart-healthy fat that enhances flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon butter Provides richness; can be substituted with vegan butter.
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt Enhances and balances flavors.
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper Adds a touch of warmth and spice.
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar Brings brightness and tang to the dish.

Method

Preparation
  1. Cut the head of cabbage in half from top to bottom. Lay each half flat on a large cutting board and slice it into thin strips.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add in the butter and olive oil.
  2. Once hot, add in the garlic and sauté for 3 minutes.
  3. Add in the cabbage and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Sauté for 10-12 minutes, stirring a few times, until it’s tender.
  5. Stir in the vinegar and serve. Season with additional salt and pepper as desired.

Notes

Make sure to cut the cabbage into thin strips for even cooking. Don’t overcrowd the pan to help the cabbage sauté rather than steam. Adjust the heat as needed to avoid burning the garlic.
